Things to do on a chilly afternoon

December 6, 2009

The Happy Family on the Highway

So tomorrow they open the new chunk of I-64 here in St. Louis.  As a sop to everyone inconvenienced by the construction, which would be most of the population of the area, they opened it to bicycle and pedestrian traffic today before the official ribbon cutting and dedication.

Strolling down the pavement was a little surreal.  The guard rails were still shiny, fer chrissake.  I got a good look at the texture they use for the rumble strips on the inner and outer shoulder lines.  They had Fredbird.

Scary things on the interstate

Sports mascots are right up there with clowns for inducing rage, normally, but it’s hard to think poorly of someone willing to take the amount of abuse heaped by my son and the other kids.

Most importantly of all, I discovered my wife’s coat is actually construction site camo.

Where did she go?

Came up and put up Christmas lights.

Oh yeah, did some editing of an acquaintance’s short story in the morning.  Gotta keep my head in the game.

Awww… such wonderful photos! I was wondering why Laura posted something about going to ‘play in the street!’
