Chapter four and other stuff
Slowly moving through chapter four, wondering the whole time if this is going to stay in, and if so, if it’s going to stay where it is. WUTA, my writers’ group, will no doubt help me answer that question when I read it to them tomorrow night.
My family and I finally made it to the Ethical Society today, thanks to the rain canceling our son’s noon soccer game. What is it with soccer games on noon at Sunday? Haven’t these people ever been to a church with a long-winded pastor? Or in this case, an 11-noon regular time slot? As it happens, though, it was the first day of the Sunday School year (I didn’t know Sunday School had a year), so the timing was perfect. Too perfect. Almost as if we were meant to be there…oh wait, this is the Ethical Society, not a church.
I liked the atmosphere there, generally. I especially liked the broad range of ages represented, including a lot of teens. Any place that can keep teens engaged has to have something going for it. That it’s all of a five minute walk from our house doesn’t hurt.
