End Game

February 6, 2011

Crossed the 60k line sometime yesterday, or maybe this morning. Finishing up what I sure hope is the next to last chapter, although I’m looking at what still has to happen and thinking I’m going to have one hell of a cliffhanger if I cut it off where I was planning. As there’s one novel left to write for this arc, I don’t mind all that much. The first one was open-ended but with a satisfying sense of closure (all right, it satisfied ME). The second novel’s ending had an outward trajectory, but still very much ended one story. This time it feels like libram interruptus.

If I get there and I don’t like what I’ve done, I can always write more, right?

So, no more than 10000 words left, max. Probably 9000. Gotta make the landing stick. Then back to shopping number one out. If I were a True and Devoted Author I’m sure I’d be doing that already, but I can’t write something novel-length and sell something else novel-length at the same time. Not yet anyway.

If you give us a cliffhanger, we will hate you. Love, Matt.
