Waiting and writing

April 9, 2011

Thursday the subset of WUTA that does long-form work (novels, screenplays, chapbooks) will go over the most recent faerie noir story. I already know one reader thinks the opening is too slow, but I also know another thought it the best of the three. De gustibus non disputandum est. We’ll see how opinions shake out. In the meantime I’ve been working on a flash piece, to keep the fingers working. I think I’m getting pretty good at pinning down whether a notion is a 500 word or a 1000 word story. This one currently clocks in at 495 words, and it does everything I want it to do. Whether it does anything anyone else is interested in remains to be seen.

I just went through my manuscript last night, shaved off 3 pages of text in total. It works for me. Believe in yourself.
