Trench warfare

May 17, 2011

Synopsis and query writing drives me insane. This fact is well documented by anyone who has to deal with me when I’m doing it. The synopsis in particular feels like an unnatural act…be that as it may, I’ve gotten really good feedback from the folks at WUTA. I have a synopsis I can not only live with, but which I like. The query…ooooh, so close. I think I need one more magic sentence, and it’s not coming. Not yet.

This sort of writing is like trench warfare for me: the combination of brevity and OCD required means I spend more time per word than on anything else I do. Poetry is easier–it comes or it doesn’t, for me at least. Writing for work is easier, and I get paid twice a month to do that.
