Almost there…and the joy of marketing. No, really.

September 5, 2012

5600 words left on the first draft of the R&R. I should finish the week of Labor Day at least. Afterwards, I grind down the welds and polish. That part is routine now.

WUTA has been bouncing around out-of-the-box ideas for marketing short fiction in particular, some of which will get their trial run at Archon 36. They may actually be…enjoyable. I’ll let you know.

Had an interesting discussion with some folks on Google+ about the ethical issues swirling around sock-puppet and purchased reviews on Amazon. However one judges the authors who pimp their own books in, ah, less than straightforward fashion–trashing other authors via sock-puppet is despicable. I will never buy a book from someone who does it. I can understand the desire to promote one’s work and lift it out of the ocean of text we all swim in, but NEVER at the expense of another author. So many aspects of the business are already zero-sum games–this doesn’t have to be, sorry.
