Thirteen (a quantum anniversary)
Prime
Yet unstable
A whisper from decay
Ready to settle
Into a dozen plus
One
Or pumped,
To push past
Discontent
Crack fourteen
And soar.
The above has rather more to do with the historical attitude and associations people have with the number thirteen, and my vague memories of my years as a physics major, than the fact that today is our thirteenth wedding anniversary. I had been planning to post the picture and say “Happy anniversary, dear!” and at some point this poem leaked out of my brain. But the poem and the occasion do have a number (and perhaps the sentiment at the end) in common.
So…Happy anniversary, dear! And don’t read too much into it.
Happy Anniversary! May you celebrate many more magnificent years together!
