Vote early, vote often

February 7, 2013

I have a couple of flash fiction pieces orphaned by the disappearance or re-purposing of their online markets. I could hunt down a reprint market, but given the earlier discussion, I’m of a mind to simply present them here. If I do, what format would people prefer to see them in? Multiple choices are allowed. I’ll leave the poll up for a week.

A few comments in addition to my vote:

Whenever I have seen author-bloggers post fiction in-line in blog posts, I have found it annoying. I don’t mind reading text on the computer, I read a lot of fanfiction that way a decade ago, but I subscribe to the blogs via rss, and scrolling down and down and down to get to the next post is annoying.

You could upload the documents to Smashwords (or similar site) yourself. I think they provide the epub variations, as well as online reading options. You could decide whether you want to charge a minimal fee of make them free. That way you don’t have to host them somewhere, and it’s likely they will be found by people who don’t already know you.

I had not considered linking off-blog, but it’s an interesting idea. I will look into it.
