Never make a threat you can’t back up
So, by the time you read this, one and possibly two of my published short-shorts will be available for FREE at Smashwords.com (see the READ MY STUFF page for the links). The two stories appeared in online zines that have, alas, gone under or been repurposed away from fiction, so the stories are not otherwise easily available. Thanks to John Newmark for the suggestion, and all who voted in the poll whose results I ignored in favor of said suggestion.
Smashwords suggests (demands, really) covers for ebooks, and so I obliged, though a cover for a piece of flash fiction seems excessive. One of these required taking a picture in my back yard. No turkeys this time, alas.
That’s not a glass of stout. It’s just too early.
Pro tip: the queue for publishing at Smashwords is shorter before 8 PST.
What I found interesting is that by the time I had assigned an ISBN for the first one there were already 8 downloads of it. Do bots cruise there or are there just that many people yearning for free stories?
