Revenge of the Desk Job

March 11, 2013
This afternoon: Before

This afternoon: Before

Above, the writing and working environment I’ve had for a couple of years now.

Below, the first iteration of the new, eight hours later. (No, I didn’t work on on straight that long. Probably two and a half hours of actual assembly and rewiring, plus a lot of dusting and vacuuming.)

Tonight: After (stand)ing

Tonight: After (standing)

Stand up!

And sitting.

And sitting.

Still need to tidy up cables, get a simpler KM switch (no V), get a longer power cord for that monitor (which wasn’t my first choice…a tale for later) and put the bric-a-brac back in place. I may end up ditching the vertical section if it drives me crazy, but it makes a fine place for a wireless router for now.

The slide/support bracket is a beast. There’s a part that looks like the hood ornament off a ’55 Bel Air and weighs about the same. I don’t think it’s going anywhere. I like it, even if “Ergotron” sounds like something from the next Transformers movie.
